The CMA awards are tomorrow, GRAMMY nominees will be announced November 28th, and on the low-budget end of the spectrum, Ameripolitan Nominees were announced today. The Railhouse Band from San Marcos is a young act I first saw at SXSW this March. I have also seen members of this group play bluegrass locally, as well as with western swing artist Georgia Parker, whose brother is in the band. Georgia recently did a show with Luke Bell and did some shows with 2015 Ameripolitan nominee Emily Herring .Western swing nominee and previous Ameripolitan award winner Jason Roberts is playing at a local venue next week, so I hope to see him then. The Barnyard Stompers are a talented act I saw a couple days ago, so I’m glad to see them get some recognition. This is their second year to be nominated. Several international acts represented on my 2017 New Country Showcase are among the nominees, including The Country Side of Harmonica Sam , Rockin’ Bonnie , and Don Diego Trio . One of the nominated venues is the American Legion Post 82 in Nashville. Here’s a video shot there, featuring nominee Tommy Ash . I saw 2017 Ameripolitan Outlaw winner Dallas Moore at Gruene Hall earlier this year, and he puts on a really good show.
